Tasuru Arai (JPN)

The sound that humans can perceive is only a very small part of what the universe produces. In his work, artist Tatsuru Arai seeks the limit of the audio input a human being can endure  to still experience it as interesting or even enjoyable. His ‘Hyper Serial Music’ series, of which ‘Quantum’ is the third instalment, is based on serialism, an important 20th-century composition technique. The sounds in Arai’s eclectic installation are at the limits of what the human ear can hear.

 Tatsuru Arai graduated in 2009 from the Tokyo College of Music and continued with a Masters in Composition, Computer Programming and Multimedia Art from the Academy of Music in Berlin.
