Electroluminescent Algae
Frisian artist Jorrit van de Waal creates a new work for LUNA Waterstad. In the still water, the Frisian artist Jorrit van de Waal creates the illusion of luminous algae. The interactive installation responds to the movements of the visitors. The basin is alive – with the help of light!
Jorrit is curious, creative, likes to experiment and has a broad academic interest. Started with a bachelor’s degree in art and education, he graduated 17 years later from the Master of Fine Arts course ‘MADTech’ at the Frank Mohr Institute of Academie Minerva in Groningen. The interactive kinetic art objects that he often creates are driven by a fascination for the psychology of perception and the way in which people give meaning to the surrounding world.
