Alexander van Bakel (NL)
Paradise Found
A paradisiacal installation of curious modernist worlds, overwhelming in their dreamy calmness.
Alexander van Bakel (1994) translates different archetypical worlds into a completely rational solar system in which a basic Minecraft block serves as a cosmological constant: a fundamental unity from which all planets are made.
The worlds are graphical, almost architectural tours de force that are fascinating and so serene that as a spectator you are overcome by a promise of a possible future.
Alexander recently graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Paradise Foundwas his graduation project.
