Nowah Kater is a soundartist and graduated this year at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design [MAFAD] in Maastricht. Blaaskaken is a powerful sound installation made of air pumps that blow into long PVC pipes through rubber hoses. Caused by the air pressure, the rubber of the hoses starts to ‘clap’; the artist reinforces these vibrations with long tubes, causing loud, roaring and screeching sounds. Spectators are overwhelmed with both an ominous as an hypnotic sound storm.
