Haifa Ouerfelli

Imaginarium

“Imaginarium” is a site-specific installation that transforms damaged and broken mirrors into a poetic light artwork. A projector shines on an arrangement of mirrors, so that their cracks and stains are reflected onto the surrounding space; former “imperfections” become beautiful, textural stories. The work’s composition is always adapted to its location: it was first developed during the 2019 SEE Djerba Biennale for Media Art, in which Haifa Ouerfelli participated in the Young Masters talent development program. It was also presented at the Undark Festival in Yekaterinburg, Russia, and now arrives in Leeuwarden.

Haifa studied interior design at the ESSTeD, Ecole Supérieure Des Sciences et Technologies du Design in Tunis, in 2018. She is currently in the first year of her Applied Masters Studies in Interior Design. In her artwork, she experiments with traditional materials that emulate the effects and distortions of digital equipment.
