Tubes

Charlie Holper (LU)

The ‘Tubes’ are installation elements that can be displayed in all sorts of ways and places. Charlie makes their tubes from old donated fabrics that sew them together in a very simple way with a slightly awkward childlike aesthetic. Motors are integrated into the ‘Tubes’ to give the work movement.

Charlie Holper’s artistic work is focused on rope and how it moves and knots. They create by playing with it and tying it together in all sorts of ways. Charlie developed this working method during the Master programme MADTech at the Frank Mohr Institute in Groningen where they obtained their Master of Fine Art this year. Charlie works very intuitively, drawing on memories from their childhood. They want to evoke feelings of wonder and awe, hieby Charlie’s own inner child comes first. If their inner child approves, it is ready for the audience. Charlie hopes to evoke similar childlike feelings in the audience.
