IN DE VEZELS COEVORDEN
In de vezels – Coevorden
In the Municipality of Coevorden, the completion of the construction of fiberglass was celebrated from 3 to 6 March 2022 with the Lichtkunstroute Glasvezel Zuidenveld. The celebration took the form of light art installations in seven towns and villages, one in each village, for four evenings. The installations created and emphasized the connection between the different locations through light and symbolized the connection that the fiber optic project has established. An appealing umbrella title is ‘In de Vezels’. The Media Art Friesland Foundation and the associated LUNA Collective of image and sound makers offered to program these works of art with a mix of existing works, both lighting and video mapping, which involved adapting existing works and possibly new works. All works were carefully selected for special locations that are characteristic of the places in question (Oosterhesselen, Steenwijksmoer, Dalerveen, Dalen, Sleen, Noord-Sleen and Zweeloo). LUNA Collective worked together with Lichtendonker, a lighting designer, and a number of talented artists from the wider northern region. The specific character of the region, its stories, landscape and architecture was taken into account as much as possible.
